RuneScape players know, how big the universe of this game is. It is like a different reality where you can do anything you want - level up your skills, make enemies and friends, communicate with other, fight, sell and buy things and so on. There are a lot of items in this world and some of them are extremely rare. What do we know about rare things? Yes, these things are worth some money.
You can't find RuneScape rarities at anytime, so you have to wait for the right time. Rares are dropped out to the game on holiday time. That is one of the reasons why players are waiting for Christmas, Easter, Thanksgiving and Halloween.
When rare items first occurred in the game, everyone started to trade them. However, creators of the game didn't like the fact that players are selling holiday items. Because of this reason, non-tradable Holiday items were released and players couldn't sell them. Non-tradable Holiday items are only created to make some fun.
For example you can't trade bunny ears, yo-yo, rubber chicken, bone brooch and many other. These items have a value, but is only for the purpose to show how long a person is playing a game.
However, there are some rarities which can be sold at this time. And their price is BIG.
The most expensive items on the game are partyhats, black Santa hats, half full wine jug. How much do these items cost? Well, for example, green partyhat is worth about 2,1 B RS gold today. To be more specific - 2,125,698,056 RS gold. It is even hard to pronounce this number. Imagine how much time you would need to earn such a big sum of gold...
To sum up, try to find rares at holiday time. Their value is only getting bigger when you are keeping them. Remember - nowadays, just by walking with the silly partyhat, you can show to all RuneScape community that you are SO rich and powerful.(http://img4.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20131220103803/runescape/images/1/19/Black_Santa_hat_equipped.png, http://img2.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20130118084004/runescape/images/7/7f/White_partyhat_equipped.png)
