Jagex has let us know about a couple of interesting things that shouldn’t be missed, happening this weekend. From Chronicle, Jagex’s Trading Card Game themed after RuneScape, to a promotion geared towards giving you an opportunity to prepare for the upcoming Invention update, this weekend promises to be fascinating.
First, let’s tackle Jagex’s initiative, geared to help RuneScape fanatics (and we say that with the best meaning of the word in mind) to prepare for the Invention update that is coming up this month.
Mod Robbie urges players to go to Treasure Hunter, where they can find protean items. Those items will boost your progress in Crafting, Divination, and Smithing. Developers promise that they will get you ready for the Invention update. You will also be able to convert protean items from one to another to tailor the skills you wish to improve.
Treasure Hunter keys will help you find stackable protean memories, hides, and bars, which are needed to train skills you need to unlock Invention. This boon will be active from 00:00 UTC on the 12th of May to 23:59 UTC on the 16th of May.
Protean memories will be available for use directly from your backpack, anywhere on Gielinor. Following a short animation, they will give you a bunch of Divination experience points.
Similar effects will apply from hides to Crafting, and from bars to Smithing. At this point, we have to repeat again, you will be able to convert one protean item to another, in case your Smithing is maxed out but you have a lot of bars, while your Divination is low with no memories to speak of. To avoid making it totally GG, you will get two of your desired item for every three items you had before. That sounds fair, doesn’t it?
The other exciting feature we were made aware of, was the beginning of Chronicle: RuneScape Legends launch countdown. By logging in on Steam and playing the game, you will get three free card packs. This promotion will be up from 08:00 UTC on 12th of May to 23:00 UTC, on the 15th.
Chronicle: RuneScape Legends will launch on Steam on the 26th of May. It will launch with a full set of Steam achievements and Steam trading cards. A new ranking system will also be introduced. If you played the game during the beta, don’t worry, your progress will actually carry over.
With preparations for the Steam launch of Chronicle and the new Invention update, as well as the nice buffs to Dungeoneering, this weekend will be a busy time indeed for any RuneScape player who likes to take advantage of any opportunity to get ahead of his more ignorant (we love you too, though) competition.
