Magic is one of the most useful skills in the game to level up. It unlocks a plethora of teleports, many useful utility abilities and some very powerful offensive magic abilities, such as Ancient Magics. There are a countless number of methods available at your disposal for training, the best of which I’ll be covering in this guide. Training Magic is generally an expensive process, so it’s recommended to have a decent sized bank before beginning. If you don’t have enough gold that’s not an issue because here at food4rs we sell gold 24/7 with instant delivery and great rates! There are very few methods that yield a profit whilst rewarding you with reasonable XP per hour rates, so be prepared to spend a pretty penny. However, the expense won’t be in vain, due to the large amount of content in the game that is locked behind a Magic level requirement.

Additionally, there are a large number of Achievement Diary tasks and Quests that have a Magic level requirement to complete. Diary tasks and Quests often have very desirable rewards, therefore this should act as an additional incentive to train your Magic skill.
There are many quests within OSRS that have a Magic level requirement in order to complete them. The most notable is Dragon Slayer II, which requires Level 75 Magic to complete. The complete list of Quests with Magic level requirements are as follows:
Level 7 - In Aid of the Myreque
Level 15 - Watchtower
Level 20 - Elemental Workshop II
Level 33 - Darkness of Hallowvale
Level 33 - The Giant Dwarf
Level 33 - Spirits of the Elid
Level 39 - Enakhra's Lament
Level 45 - King's Ransom
Level 46 - The Eyes of Glouphrie
Level 50 - Desert Treasure
Level 56 - Legends' Quest
Level 59 - Family Crest
Level 65 - Lunar Diplomacy
Level 66 - Swan Song
Level 75 - Dragon Slayer II
Similarly, many Achievement Diaries in OSRS have Magic level requirements in order to complete. Diary rewards are arguably even more useful than Quest rewards within the game, therefore this may act as a strong incentive for players to level up their Magic skill. The Diary tasks that have a Magic level requirement are as follows:

|25||Varrock||Medium||Cast the Teleport to Varrock spell|
|31||Lumbridge & Draynor||Medium||Cast the Lumbridge Teleport spell|

Additionally, there are a variety of quests that reward Magic XP. You may want to complete these before heading for Level 99 if you feel that the XP reward given is worthwhile:

|Spirits of the Elid||1,000||33|
|The Giant Dwarf||1,500||33|

There are a large number of options for training Magic. Instead of dictating methods for specific level brackets, I’m going to make you aware of the methods available and the best locations and approaches for each one.
"Splashing" is a historic technique used to gain Magic experience while AFK. Players would equip a full suit of plate armour and dragonhide vambraces, in order to gain a Magic bonus of -65 or lower. This would cause all spells to fail casting, keeping the target from dying.
Due to a recent update on AFK combat, "splashing" is less effective. Since the update, the player will stop attacking after only gaining a few thousand experience if the player does not interact with the client (every 20 minutes), regardless of whether Auto Retaliate is turned on.
Some players may still opt to use this method, however it is worth noting that it isn’t as useful as previously.
Training Magic the traditional way by casting regular combat spells is still very viable. The most popular location for this is Sand Crabs located on Great Kourend.
The spell you cast is up to you, but it is recommended to use the highest level spell that you are able to use. The only limitation is rune cost, with the cost jumping once you reach the Blast (Death Rune) and Wave (Blood Rune) spells.
As long as it is financially viable, I’d highly recommend using the best spell you have available to you. Cost will vary depending on player choices, however you can expect to pay between 50-80M gold to achieve Level 99 using these methods.
Quite a high price tag, however comparatively reasonable against other methods available. XP rates also vary, although you can expect 25-45K XP per hour whilst using Blast spells, with 50-70K+ XP per hour possible whilst using Wave spells, dependant on player attentiveness and gear.
High Level Alchemy is a non-combat spell used to convert items into coins. Each cast yields 65 XP, with it being possible to alch around 1,200 items per hour for a total of 78,000 XP per hour. This is a popular method for many players as you can withdraw items to alch as noted, meaning that you never have to stop to bank. You can also line up the cursor so that it is located over the High Alchemy spell and the item in your inventory simultaneously, negating the need to ever move the mouse.
The main dilemma with High Alchemy is choosing an item which you can purchase on the Grand Exchange to alch. Ideally, you want an item that is going to result in the least loss (or even a profit) after alching it. You can use a website such a http://alchmate.com/ or other alternatives which automatically compiles the best items to alch at any given point, using current G.E. price data as a point of reference.
Another method to train Magic is by repeatedly using teleport spells, entirely for the XP gain for casting the spell. Each teleport has a different cost, but every teleport will require 1 or more Law Runes. Generally, you’d want to cast the highest level teleport spell available to you that only costs 1 Law Rune, if using this method.
The main reason people use this method is that it can be combined with High Alchemy. "Tele-alching" is a method which combines the two elements of casting High Level Alchemy and teleporting. To do this, you will need to alch an item, teleport straight after, click the high alch before you spawn and click the item as soon as you spawn.
Tele alching at Camelot gives 120,000-130,000 experience per hour and is the cheapest of the two requiring a single law rune per teleport. Tele alching at Ardougne is 152,000 experience per hour, but is a lot more expensive at the cost of an extra law rune per teleport. Additionally, if you have completed Eadgar's Ruse, have fast enough speed and good enough precision, you may consider tele alching at Trollheim at level 61.
There are a number of Lunar Magic spells that have excellent XP rewards, making them viable to be used for training. Each of these spells requires the Lunar Diplomacy quest to cast, and some methods have additional requirements.
From Level 80, you can cast String Jewellery. Each amulet made gives 4 Crafting experience and 83 magic experience. Once clicked, it will string each amulet one by one in your inventory, giving you experience for each amulet strung. Using a mud battlestaff is recommended, as it provides unlimited Earth and Water runes, meaning you’ll just need 2 astral runes per action.
While only half paying attention, this spell can provide over 130k experience per hour or around 1,500 casts, reaching around 160k experience per hour or around 1900-2000 casts when full attention is given.
Prices vary, but a popular item to use for this method is Gold Amulet(U). Level 80 - Level 99 using this method at current prices would cost 40M GP. A pretty reasonable price tag for a very important 99, in my opinion.
From Level 86, you can cast the Plank Make spell. You’ll also need to have completed the Dream Mentor quest. With decent concentration, players can achieve 166,000 experience per hour, and using mahogany planks may even yield slight amounts of profit. It should be noted that this method is significantly more tedious, as you must cast the spell on each log individually, unlike the mechanism for the String Jewellery spell. This is a good method for players who want a decent XP rate at no cost (or a slight profit).
Killing maniacal monkeys with Ice Burst or Ice Barrage on Ape Atoll is the fastest way to train Magic in the game. This requires Ancient Magicks and having started chapter II of the quest Monkey Madness II. Maniacal monkeys frequently drop 1-dose prayer potions which can negate the cost of using Protect from Melee.
Players who don't have access to maniacal monkeys can alternatively burst skeletal monkeys in the Ape Atoll Dungeon, however, this is slightly slower and more expensive compared to maniacal monkeys.
This method will grant the player around 315,000 Magic experience per hour if using Ice Burst, and 410,000 experience per hour with Ice Barrage. The maniacal monkey strategies page covers equipment and recommended inventory setups.
